Scala dei Turchi

The amazement of Scala dei Turchi, the wonder of a white and wide limestone-marly cliff overlooking the sea, on which the wind, waves and rain have carved, over the millennia, the shape of a sumptuous natural staircase.
A succession of wide steps, furrows and terraces that slope towards the clear waters below.
The name derives from the popular tradition according to which in the adjacent the boats of Muslim pirates found a comfortable landing place and hiding: from here they could easily climb on the natural steps to carry out raids in the surrounding countryside.
